Samantha's Journey
Samantha began working in the substance addiction field at the Priory Hospital Roehampton on The Addiction Treatment Programme with inpatients, alongside Steps2Recovery, a charity breaking the chain of addiction and re-offending. Samantha is incredibly grateful for the relationships she built and the support received in this fundamental part of her journey. She valued the balance of the private and public sector. Wanting to develop her working approach non-clinically she trained in Experiential Therapy. She enjoyed combining these skills into her working style so she later trained in Psychodrama Therapy.
Creating an integrative approach and moving away from working purely with substance addiction, Samantha started working holistically with client’s behaviours, including sexual behaviours, at Innisfree Therapy. This involved delivering groups, experiential and psycho-educational workshops and training to work with sex offenders. It was at this time she pursued her work with trauma, specifically as an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner. This was an invaluable experience training with a Professor in Trauma Psychology, humanitarians, trauma doctors and members of the British Military, enriching her learning and professional development. Samantha became a Heartmath Coach aiding the achievement of coherence. This led her to be become a mindfulness teacher. The experience whilst professional, was deeply nourishing and a cherished memory with the kindest of teachers introducing Samantha to a fundamental lifelong practice. Samantha’s therapeutic approach to client work became about raising their awareness for their capacity to be present with themselves and to acknowledge their ability to address their needs as a whole. She began collaborating with the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) Trust delivering health and wellbeing services for the Performing Arts sector.

Her desire for client care led her to train in Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness. Striving to provide appropriate approaches for her LGBTQ clients she began training with Pink Therapy, specailising to work with Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) clients.
The importance of continuing to maintain her skills and due to working with clients who have experienced Sexual Violence Samantha chose to further her development and train as a Psychosexual Therapist. It was here that Samantha developed her passion for Sex Education using dynamic approaches to deliver workshops.

This led to the creation of ST talks including Samantha Speaking at events, delivering Workshops and offering Retreats.
